Eye Disease Macular Degeneration

AMD or Macular Degeneration

Macular degeneration is a condition where the patient loses vision over time and is caused by a gradual disfunction of the retina. Generally there are 2 distinctive types of this desease:

Macular Degeneration - Wet

In some occurences a regular dry macular degeneration turns into a wet macular degeneration. This condition is the worst case, because a damage to the retina occurs, caused by the growing of blood vessels. The result are dead points or spots in the patients visual field.

Macular Degeneration - Dry

Non-neovascular macular degeneration or as well referred to as dry macular degeneration is caused by a thinning of the macular tissue. Symptoms of the desease are loss of vision over time as well as a desolving of the eye tissue that is disposed by the eye.
